I placed the transulcent paper upside down on my workspace, placed the embossed, embossed powdered and heated and then watercolored cardstock in the center, and wrapped the translucent paper around it. Also the grey area looks silver in better lighting. Unfortunately, it is a scan!fail as I forgot to double-check that it was fully on the scanner before I put out the bookmark for guests to take home with them. The darker regions on the sides are from folding the paper around the cardstock. This is actually the back of the bookmark, but the translucent paper over the debossed cardstock works so it could work as the front of a bookmark. For the center I made a basic origami shape using the cut-out from the center. I then used roll-on adhesive to adhere the main part of the paper. For the final layer I cut out the center of the translucent paper with decorative scissors. I chose glue rather than roll-on adhesive because the glue made the doily slightly translucent. The second layer is a doily that was glued down. The bottom layer is white cardstock that had been rubbed with blue, purple, and pink distress inks. I loved the cherry blossom pattern on the paper and wanted to enhance it. For the final layer I used a doily with the center cut out using decorative scissors. Next I added the translucent origami paper and wrapped it around the cardstock so that the bookmark had two sides. I started with a piece of embossed cardstock with pink ink rubbed on it using my DIY distress ink tool. I found that it presented some challenges for creating origami shapes that didn’t look too busy so I decided to try layering it with other papers to create multimedia bookmarks.
